“Home is where the heart is.”
This age-old quote honors the truth that the way home is through the heart. When was the last time you created safe space to center in your heart and invoke creative energy? Now more than ever, psychologists are feeling the collective weight of clients’ struggles, personal issues, in addition to the heaviness that resides in the collective air around us. As healers, we hold space for so many but often find ourselves in need of our own holding spaces. Research is showing that in the Covid era, we are seeing higher rates of burn out, reduced joy, increased physical and mental health challenges, and feelings of stagnancy. Numerous empirical studies support the need for mental health professionals to be more mindful of the effect that the nature of this work has on them. When the heart is nourished, the capacity to nourish others is increased. When we ignite our creative energy, we invite in joyful, healing and transformative energy into the heart.
Many healers are finding that their hearts are at capacity and in need of a respite. This workshop is an invitation to allow your heart to enter its very own sacred space and to refuel through the creative practice of Soul Collage. Soul Collage is an intuitively inspired expressive arts practice which promotes self-discovery, empowerment, connection and healing. No prior art experience is necessary. This practice relies on the use of images, imagination and intuition to create Soul Collage cards that serve as windows to the soul. This 3-hour workshop will also incorporate elements of meditation, poetry, and music to allow you to center into the heart and nourish it through a powerful exchange of playfulness, creativity, and connection. This form of art making informs, affirms, supports and energizes the heart!
