Submission Deadline – January 8, 2025

We are so excited to welcome the Sacramento Valley psychological community, as well as our neighbors, friends and colleagues to our 2025 conference. We look forward to bringing innovative, engaging, relevant topics to you, as we continue to build connection and excitement in our field.

Proposals will be reviewed by the SVPA Convention Committee. We are accepting proposals on all topics, and we will prioritize those proposals that align with our conference theme.

This year’s conference theme,

Building Community, Bridging Divides,”

pertains to how psychologists can positively influence creating and rebuilding inclusive communities in our fractured times.

We aspire to highlight the relevance and positive contribution that psychology and psychologists have in our communities, specifically the ways we foster understanding, dialogue, and collaboration to create a more united society and advocate for positive change through our psychological research, knowledge and practice.

We invite integrative/multidisciplinary presentations to align with the conference theme, i.e. psychologists co-presenting with speakers from other fields or psychological perspectives. We’d love to have proposals from alpsychologists in order to highlight work that is being done in clinics, private practice, academia, research, sports, forensics, organizations, government, technology etc. Priority will be given to those applicants that have an active SVPA membership and those proposals that align with our conference theme.

Suggested topics include:

Cross-Cultural Collaboration Models; Equity and Inclusion Practices; Implicit Bias Training; Arts and Culture as a Bridge; Facilitating Deliberative Dialogue & Collaborative Problem Solving; Impact of Misinformation and Disinformation; Psychology of Polarization; How to Create Inclusive Spaces to Build Community; Personal and Societal Impacts of Social Isolation/Loneliness and Psychological Amelioration Strategies; Psychologists Building Community through Integrative Work in Non-Traditional Settings (e.g. medical facilities, prisons, schools); Helping Traumatized and Phobic People Re-Emerge Into Community Following the COViD-19 Pandemic.
