Registration

  • Your sponsorship of $25.00 allows a student group to present research for free. All proceeds go toward conference fees. Sponsor will be highlighted in conference printed materials.
  • Your sponsorship of $500.00 will enable multiple student groups to present research for free. All proceeds will go toward conference fees. Sponsor will be highlighted and offered business advertisement space in conference printed materials, and announced during the event.
  • Your sponsorship of $50.00 allows a student group to present research for free. All proceeds go toward conference fees. Sponsor will be highlighted and offered business advertisement space in conference printed materials.
  • Your sponsorship of $100.00 will enable multiple student groups to present research for free. All proceeds will go toward conference fees. Sponsor will be highlighted and offered business advertisement space in conference printed materials, and announced during the event.
  • This event is open to faculty and the general public for an admission fee of $5 payable via registration on this website.
  • Student registration fees are waived thanks to our generous sponsors. Please show student ID at the Registration Desk.
  • For students who wish to be considered for a presentation slot at this conference.

SVPA's 2nd Annual

 

Student Research Conference

 

cosponsored by the California State University, Sacramento's College of Social Sciences & Interdisciplinary Studies and held at the University's Alumni Center. 


This conference will feature 20 poster presentations, a Public Service Announcement (created by our local high school students!) viewing and Award Ceremony, and four symposium presentations of original psychological research conducted by undergraduate and graduate psychology students from psychology programs in the greater Sacramento area.


General Admission:

This event is open to faculty, mental health professionals, and the general public. 


Event Schedule:

  • 11:00am - 11:30am:  Student Panel Discussion about Psychology for High School and Undergraduate Students 
  • 11:30am - 1:00pm:  CSUS Campus Tour and Lunch with CSUS Undergrad mentors
  • 12:30pm - 1:00pm:  Registration and Set Up
  • 1:00pm - 2:15pm:  Student Poster Session
  • 2:30pm - 3:10pm:  Welcome Speeches and Public Service Announcement Award Ceremony
  • 3:15pm - 4:00pm:  Student Symposium Presentations


Student Presenters:

Registration for student presenters is free!!! Students who wish to be considered for a presentation slot at this conference will need to complete both of the following:

  • Complete registration as a presenter on this website by 2/29/2016.
  • Submit a 300 word abstract describing the nature of your research.
Abstract proposals will be judged based on the following criterion:
  • What will the observer of this presentation learn about psychology that she or he did not know before?
  • How well is this information presented?
  • Why is this information important for the field of psychology?
  • Are the claims made in the article justified by the methods used?
The top four presentation proposals will be invited for symposium presentation.
